Mountain biking in the Hautes-Alpes
There are seven FFC-approved mountain bike sites – the best venues in the department!
A varied network of 2000 km of marked paths for family outings and technical rides.
Four bike parks: Les Orres, Vars, Montgenèvre and Orcières 1850.
Lifts and cable cars open to mountain bikers in the summer.
Legendary downhill runs, such as Vars-Embrun (the longest in Europe) and Les Orres-Embrun, both of which also offer a refreshing dip in the Serre-Ponçon Lake.
Where to go?
The seven FFC-approved sites are: the Gapençais region, Buëch, Champsaur, Serre-Ponçon (Embrun and Savine areas), Pays des Ecrins, Guillestrois region, Grand Briançonnais region. You will find a minimum of 100 km of marked trails, each categorised according to difficulty, with welcome points, repair kits, route maps and guidebooks, one or more bike washing stations and an FFC club.
